13 April, 2022Welcome to May's newsletter. Here you will find information about shooting in Peru as well as some of our most recent work.
The Spanish conquistadors always built their towns on top of existing Inca villages. This is no exception in the town of Chinchero, 40 minutes out of Cusco.
This town features a beautiful church and adobe houses overlaying the old Inca walls and terraces. The series of stairs reaching up to the high plaza offer great angles for recreating local festivities.
Quickly after the 1st confirmed case, Peru took an aggressive stance in regards to general containment . A complete shutdown of general activities started on March 16th. The borders were closed, as well as local flights and inter state travel. Single family members can go grocery shopping Monday through Saturday and Sunday is a complete stay at home day.
It is difficult to foresee when will the shutdown start to open up, but the government stated that on the early stages they will probably allow gatherings of 50 people at most. So that is something that has to be considered when planning future projects. There is the chance that clients will have to watch the shoot remotely so new video assist transmission setups will have to be implemented. New shooting guidelines including health screening, on set behavior and hygiene will have to be strictly adopted. Many industries have been hit hard, ours included. As most crew members are freelancers these are very tough times for all of them.
The second phase of the containment will start in June, where some new activities will start to take place. We will keep you informed.
MASTER CHEF UK
Series 14 Episode 23
It was a lot of fun to work on a Master Chef show! From the moment the team landed in Peru everything went very fast: scouting, recce, pre-production, purchasing, shooting, etc.
"Confidentiality" was the ongoing motto as the participants didn’t even know they were coming to Peru, even day to day and hour to hour details were kept a secret.
The contestants had the chance to meet top chefs in Peru like Gaston Acurio, Virgilio Martinez, Roberto Grau, Malena Martinez and Pia Leon. The Master Chef team has a lot of experience shooting together so production just flowed from scene to scene.
Shot entirely in Lima, the episode quickly draws you into the always evolving peruvian cuisine. Here the finalists face three challenges, guided by two of Peru's most acclaimed chefs.
