Welcome to March's newsletter. Here you will find information about shooting in Peru as well as some of our most recent work.
Lately Peru has been in the news because of its cuisine. In 2017 alone Peru had 3 restaurants in the World's 50 Best restaurants list, and chef Virgilio Martinez won the 2017 Chefs Choice Award. One reason behind this success has been the wide variety of ingredients available in Peru all year round, and specially the ones called "Superfoods".
Right now we are reaching the end of the rain season which means that in the mountain regions the crops are reaching maturity and will start to be harvested. it is a beautiful scenery to see as the rain starts to simmer and the lush green mountain landscapes can be seen. In this "superfoods" category Peru is well know for the Maca, Cacao, Lucuma, Camu-Camu, Quinoa, Kiwicha and Yacon, among others.

Last year we assisted HBO’s Vice News team which was covering some controversial stories regarding climate change and genetics Pirates. In a short period of time we were able to cover a wide variety of locations in the middle of the Ancash's Andes.
A root called maca, said to boost sexual stamina, became a national craze in China in 2013. Farmers in Peru, where maca is grown, made huge sums of money for a few seasons, until one day the Chinese buyers disappeared. Instead of buying from Peru, they were growing the root at home. But now Peru’s government is trying to stop them, using an obscure new law to catch the companies it says are committing acts of “biopiracy.”
VICE News’ Arielle Duhaime-Ross travels to the Peruvian Andes where, for the first time, a single individual is suing a company over the effects of climate change. In this case, Saúl Luciano Lliuya, a local mountain guide in the Andean town of Huaraz, claims that one of the most prolific greenhouse gas emitters in the world, the German company RWE, is partially responsible for the glacial melt which might cause a nearby lake to overflow and destroy his house.
