Paramount Pictures - Dora and the Lost City of Gold

E

arly in 2019 John Scotti from Paramount pictures approached us looking for locations that would resemble the high jungles of Peru. The movie has various Inca references and some characters even speak the ancient language Quechua. The director James Bobin wanted to be as accurate as possible and was really interested in getting locations in Peru. After looking at the reference pictures we knew that Tarapoto had the right conditions. After a thorough scout we were able to pinpoint the right places, which were a combination of river beds, deep mountainous jungle and some roads for the car scenes.

Talking about car scenes our most compelling job was to transform a regular white Land Rover Discovery into a Australian army modified Land Rover to match the one used in the Australia leg of the shoot.

During the shoot we were joined by helicopter extraordinaire Fred North, who really enjoyed shooting on the vast nearby jungle together with his aerial dop Dylan Goss. The film was shot on ARRI Alexa Mini using the K1 head from Team5 Aerials. Drone footage was also supplied by Wild Rabbit Aerials, they even chased down the AS350B3 helicopter for one of the scenes!
