Sergio Perera's Destination Peru | SBS

A culinary journey across Peru

For Sergio Perera’s Destination Peru, APU provided local production support for an extensive journey through some of the country’s most remarkable culinary and cultural destinations.

The series follows chef Sergio Perera alongside Minoli De Silva and Conor Curran as they explore Peru through its landscapes, people and food. Their journey takes them from the energy and celebrated culinary scene of Lima to Arequipa and the dramatic Colca Canyon, before continuing across the high Andes to Puno, Cusco and Machu Picchu.

From scouting to production

The project involved a substantial period of preparation, beginning with an extensive scouting trip across the proposed route. Working across several regions allowed the creative and production teams to identify the right stories, contributors and locations while carefully planning the logistics behind each stage of the shoot.

Once filming began, the production moved through Lima, Arequipa City, Colca, Puno and Cusco—covering coastal streets, historic cities, remote Andean landscapes, traditional markets and distinctive culinary settings.

APU supported the project throughout its development and filming stages, coordinating the local elements required to keep a complex, multi-location production moving efficiently across Peru.

As part of the production, we also filmed dedicated segments for Intrepid Travel’s social media channels, highlighting their contribution to the series and capturing additional content from the journey.

One country, many stories

Each destination revealed a different side of Peru. Lima introduced the country through its dynamic food culture. Arequipa brought together striking colonial architecture and traditional picanterías, while Colca provided a dramatic transition into the Andes. Puno offered a connection to the culture and communities surrounding Lake Titicaca, and Cusco completed the journey with its extraordinary blend of history, landscape and living tradition.

The result is a vibrant exploration of Peru—one shaped not only by its food, but by the people, places and traditions behind it.
